About Us

An effective, professional response

PGG Wrightson’s Standardbred division has provided support to the harness racing industry for many decades. As part of one of New Zealand’s most respected brands, the division provides advice, valuation services, marketing and insurance to breeders and owners.

We listen: our flexibility, professionalism and networks ensure we respond effectively, and with integrity.

The Australasian Classic and New Zealand Premier Yearling Sales held in Auckland and Christchurch each February are highlights of the company’s calendar.

Equine talent progressing through our sales ring includes seven modern day New Zealand Cup winners, 32 Harness Jewels winners and 31 Australasian Breeders Crown winners.

Cameron Grant

South Island Standardbred Coordinator

Cameron’s career prior to PGG Wrightson covers a range of fields, including motor vehicle sales, real estate, property management and professional golf. Representing Mid-South Canterbury in golf for several years, he performed regularly at the national level. He has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Otago. No stranger to horses, Cameron’s family background includes plenty of time and contacts in the harness racing industry, particularly around owners and trainers. A problem solver with a strong work ethic, he brings his networking, communication and listening skills to PGG Wrightson Standardbred, where his ‘can do’ attitude makes the difference for the clients he works with.

Kelly Jackson

North Island Standardbred Customer Representative

Most of Kelly’s professional life has involved horses. Her knowledge and experience of the animal, and the detailed understanding she has of the equine industry, provide great value to her clients. Initially a vet nurse, she spent several years working for Coolmore Stud, one of Irish racing’s most well-known and best respected names. That role also took her to the United States and Australia, predominantly working in sales. Returning to New Zealand, Kelly spent ten years with a renowned Cambridge stud, still mainly in sales, also covering public relations. Outside work, she is never far from horses, either participating in the hunt scene, or supporting her daughter in the A&P show scene. She started working for PGG Wrightson in 2015, shifting to the Standardbred division in 2018.
